Ryan Lee Crosby brings his globally-influenced band to City Winery’s Haymarket Lounge on Friday, November 22, 7:00pm. The local bluesman returns to Boston after his eighth tour in Europe and a recent pilgrimage to Mississippi, where he performed at the Bentonia Blues Festival. Crosby will play on 12-string guitar and chaturangui (22-string Indian slide guitar), intermixing hypnotic guitar lines with bluesy harmonica over a bed of tabla and calabash rhythms. Crosby’s music is an inspiring mix of arranged and improvised material. By blending essences of American folk-blues with West African rhythms and Indian raga, Crosby creates a welcoming, yet unconventional atmosphere in which cultures, stories and personalities merge. Blues and Appalachian fiddler, singer, songwriter Ilana Katz Katz opens.
