With the freshness and spontaneity of street dance, the rigor of ballet, and the inventiveness of contemporary dance, RUBBERBANDance Group defies gravity with humor and humanity as well as power and grace. Choreographer Victor Quijada, who was a b-boy in Los Angeles before signing on with Twyla Tharp and later Les Grands Ballets Canadiens de Montrèal, codirects the Montreal-based company with Anne Plamondon. Their latest production, Empirical Quotient, explores human relationships with six exceptional dancers whose backgrounds range from classical, contemporary, and urban dance to circus arts.
