Cruise the Schuylkill River for a new perspective on sites along this historic river and learn about the Fairmount Water Works, one of Philadelphia’s first tourist attractions.
After a brief tour of the Fairmount Water Works’ Revival, Palladian-style buildings, stroll through the beautifully landscaped South Garden and along the scenic Schuylkill River Trail for 1.5 miles to the Walnut Street Dock to board The Patriot, a reproduction of a classic 40-foot, 1920’s commuter picnic yacht, featuring open-air wrap-around seating with wind screens and restrooms.
PLEASE NOTE: Space is limited and pre-registration is required. Comfortable sturdy shoes are strongly recommended for the 1.5-mile walk. Transportation from the Walnut Street dock back to the Fairmount Water Works is available.
