In this workshop, participants will carve a small linoleum block with a simple image, proof the block on a letterpress and make alterations until satisfied. The attendees will then use the image to create another linoleum block for carving additional detail for printing in another color. Finally, both blocks will be printed and registered to create a small, two-color edition. Two 5″ x 7″ linoleum blocks are included in the class cost. Attendees may bring their own carving tools or use tools available at the press.
About Albertine Press: Albertine Press is a letterpress print & design studio and paper boutique located in Inman Square, Cambridge, carrying cards, prints, desk accessories, gifts, and curiosities for the paper obsessed. When not designing wedding invitations or peddling artisanal wares, the studio hosts a variety of workshops and events to encourage our community to be creative, share space, and start some great conversations.
About Reflex Letterpress: Ted Ollier has been dealing with design and printing since about 1995. He was trained as a traditional printmaker — intaglio, relief, silkscreen and lithography — at Texas State University and Massachusetts College of Art. He has been teaching letterpress since 2008.
