Mamdouh Eldamaty, Ph.D., Professor of Egyptology, Ain Shams University, Cairo; former Minister of Antiquities, Egypt
This talk focuses on work conducted by the Ain Shams University mission, under the supervision of Dr. Mamdouh Eldamaty, at ancient Heliopolis (modern Arab el-Hisn). Since 2017, excavations have revealed several new structures, including a Ramesside ceremonial palace and chapel of Ramses II, as well as casemate building with multiple phases of use. In addition, several important artifacts have been discovered during the digging process that is helping to rewrite the history of the ancient city of Heliopolis. Presented by the American Research Center in Egypt—Pennsylvania Chapter.

Admission: $10; $7, Penn Museum members and PennCard holders; $5, students with ID; free for ARCE-PA members and children under 12.
