Giocosa means joy! Quartett Giocosa lives up to their name and reputation by bringing exuberance, passion, and vibrancy to the stage with every performance. Heather, Liz, and the two Irinas have had the good fortune to play with some amazing musicians including Yo-Yo Ma, Joshua Bell, Mstislav Rostropovich, Anne Sophie Mutter, Mark O’Connor, Wynton Marsalis, Sarah Vaughan, Christoph Eschenbach, Michael Tilson Thomas, Jane Glover, Lorin Maazel, Seiji Ozawa, and of course the incomparable Jung-Ho Pak.

QG's third season will be their finest yet! From folk music and the Romantics to an appearance by the Grim Reaper, a New Year’s celebration, and another Intersections series concert considering hope and resilience in times of war, their upcoming schedule is well worth a look! One of the great passions of composers of the Romantic era was an affinity for folk music, both of their native lands and of the lands they visited. In From the Simple to the Sublime, Quartett Giocosa will explore how the music of Dvorak, Borodin and Tchaikovsky was influenced by this passion for the charm and simplicity of folk music.
On the program will be three cherished masterworks; Alexander Borodin’s String Quartet #2, the Andante Cantabile from Tchaikovsky’s String Quartet Opus 11, and Antonin Dvorak’s String Quartet #12 (American), plus a few very special surprises! This unique concert will be a fascinating look at one of the driving artistic forces of three beloved composers, presented by Cape Cod’s premier string quartet, Quartett Giocosa.
