Burning designs into wood has been used to decorate furniture and draw images on paper and leather for hundreds of years. This one day workshop introduces the use of various techniques that employ heat to create images using traditional pyrographic tools, small torches and safe, non-toxic chemical burns using a heat gun.
Pyrography techniques are effective and inexpensive ways to incise precise detail into woodblocks for printmaking alongside traditional carving. Bring a design, a big eraser, and a pencil- all other materials will be provided, as you spend a day learning how to burn your art, and you’ll leave smelling like you’ve been hanging around a campfire.
