Please join The Fabric Workshop and Museum in welcoming current artist-in-residence Lenka Clayton and ICA Boston’s Mannion Family Senior Curator Dan Byers as they discuss Clayton’s new and recent work on view in FWM’s current exhibition, "Lenka Clayton: Object Temporarily Removed." Susan Lubowsky Talbott, FWM’s Executive Director, will moderate the discussion.

About the Speakers
Lenka Clayton received an MA in Documentary Direction from the National Film & Television School in 2006, UK and a BA in Fine Art from Central St. Martins, London in 1999. Her work has been exhibited at the Carnegie Museum of Art, Pittsburgh; FRAC Le Plateau, Paris; Lentos Kunstmuseum Linz, Austria; and the Iran International Documentary Festival. Clayton is collaborating with artist Jon Rubin on a major project, …circle through New York, at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York on view through August 31, 2017. In 2012, Clayton founded An Artist Residency in Motherhood. In 2008 she was awarded the Theodore Randall International Chair at Alfred University in New York. Her awards include a Creative Development Grant from the Pittsburgh Foundation, a Sustainable Arts Foundation Award, and a Carol R. Brown Award for Creative Achievement.

Dan Byers is the Mannion Family Senior Curator at The Institute of Contemporary Art/Boston. His recent ICA exhibitions include The Artist’s Museum, Diane Simpson, Geoffrey Farmer, Steve McQueen: Ashes, and The 2017 Foster Prize Exhibition. Before his move to Boston, Byers was the Richard Armstrong Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art at Carnegie Museum of Art, where he was co-curator, with Daniel Baumann and Tina Kukielski, of the 2013 Carnegie International. In addition to the International, projects there included solo exhibitions of Cathy Wilkes, Ragnar Kjartansson, and James Lee Byars. Byers was Curatorial Fellow at the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, Assistant to the Directors at the Fabric Workshop and Museum in Philadelphia, and has an MA from Bard College’s Center for Curatorial Studies.

Susan Lubowsky Talbott became FWM’s second Executive Director in 2016 following her retirement as Director and CEO of the Wadsworth Atheneum, Hartford, CT, where she completed a highly acclaimed and transformative renovation. Previously, Talbott was the Director of Smithsonian Arts, Washington, DC (2005–08), and Acting Director of the National Museum of African Art. In her long career, Talbott has directed a number of art museums and was the Director of the Visual Arts Program at the National Endowment for the Arts, Washington, DC; and Director of the Whitney Museum of American Art’s branch museums at Equitable Center and Philip Morris in New York early in her career. Talbott serves on the boards of ArtTable and the French American Museum Exchange (FRAME), and is a Chevalier in the French Order of Arts and Letters.
