The ICA is offering FREE admission for all on Presidents Day, Monday, Feb 17, plus free art-making activities in the Bank of America Art Lab and short films screening in the Barbara Lee Family Foundation Theater.

Art Making
Threads of Connection, 11 AM–4 PM
Bank of America Art Lab, 1st Floor

Enjoy a free, hands-on art-making activity for all-ages in the Art Lab. Using textiles, create a fabric collage that represents you— take it home or leave it to be added to the community tapestry on view in the Art Lab. Developed by local fiber artist Merill Comeau in collaboration with ICA educators, the newest Art Lab activity and project Threads of Connection invites visitors of all ages to explore and reflect on identity and community building. Art Lab activities are first-come, first-serve.

Film
GRRL HAUS CINEMA Short Films, 11 AM–4 PM (on loop)
Barbara Lee Family Foundation Theater, 3rd Floor Entry

This FREE program from GRRL HAUS CINEMA presents six family-friendly short films, all directed by women. Among these films are a narrative short about a boy and his pet goat, an animated film on the obsessive relationship humans have to objects, the bloody and complicated life of two fourteen-year-olds, a documentary on three queer women in the underground hip-hop scene of New York City, an animated documentary on birth, and a surreal exploration on people who are connected to otherworldly beings.

The program includes:

“M” – Gabriela Gažová, 21 min.
In between – Marie-Josee Archambault, 7 min.
Where My Girls – Mads Engel, 22 min.
My Friend Shokat – Bita Ghassemi, 11 min.
Others – Grace Rex, 13 min.
Tunnel of Love — Sarah Ann Banks, 5 min.

GRRL HAUS CINEMA is an ongoing program of short films and video art made by women. A mix of local, national, and international artists present work from a variety of disciplines: narrative, documentary, experimental, and conceptual. With an emphasis on low budget and DIY, GRRL HAUS is a space for underrepresented voices in the arts today.
