The Friends of the Howard Gotlieb Archival Research Center at Boston University will host Best-Selling Author and Political Satirist Christopher Buckley on Wednesday September 17, at 6:00 PM in Metcalf Hall, for a talk on his life and career, followed by a book signing.Throughout his storied career, Mr. Buckley has entertained us with his brilliant brand of political satire and enlightened us through his reporting. Mr. Buckley graduated cum laude from Yale University in 1976 and after serving in the Merchant Marines; at age 24 became the managing editor of Esquire. In 1981 he moved to Washington D.C. and at age 29 became the chief speechwriter for then Vice President George H.W. Bush.


His time in Washington has been the inspiration for a number of his books, including The White House Mess (1986); Thank you for Smoking (1994); Little Green Men (1999); No Way To Treat a First Lady (2002); Florence of Arabia (2004) and Supreme Courtship (2008).


He is also the founder and editor-in-chief for Forbes Life magazine and has also been a contributor to numerous publications such as The New York Times; The Daily Beast; The National Review; Vanity Fair; Vogue; Conde Nast Traveler; The New Yorker; The Wall Street Journal; The Atlantic Monthly and Time.
