Spartans Wrestling Club is a Philly-based adult recreational club that gets together once per month to train and practice Freestyle wrestling (though participants with Greco or Folkstyle experience are of course very welcome). Started in 1991, the club is open to adult members of all skill levels and was founded to be especially welcoming of lgbtq wrestlers.


Spartans practices are held the first Sunday of each month at 2pm in Philly (Set-up starts at 1:30). Practices begin with warm-up exercises and stretching. This is followed by review of the previous week’s lesson and a new technique lesson, along with time to drill those and other skills. Practices end with time for free wrestling so that we can put together everything we’ve learned.


There is a $10 fee for non-members to cover site rental (waived for first-timers who mention the Philly Calendar).
