Critically-acclaimed singer-songwriter Meghan Cary has announced that she will be joining the all-star lineup for the highly-anticipated “Maids Of The Maid” benefit show at The Mermaid Inn in Chestnut Hill on Friday, April 26. Organized to support Mothers In Charge, a violence prevention, education and intervention-based organization, this exclusive event will feature an evening of Philly’s finest female-fronted bands.
During the concert, Cary will not only perform songs from her latest album Sing Louder with her musical partners Peter Farrell and Stacy Weathers but also give the audience an intimate look at the inspiration behind the record that was heralded as one that “inspires us to reach our higher selves.” (John Platt, WFUV FM). Sing Louder, which debuted among the top 10 on the US / International Folk DJ Radio Charts, is being played at mainstream radio in more than 40 markets throughout the country and in Canada.
“I’m especially proud to be performing ‘River Rock’ and ‘Responsibility’ along with other songs from Sing Louder at this event,” said Cary. “Among other things, the women of ‘Mothers in Charge’ are helping to create safe neighborhoods and communities for children and families right here in Philly…powerful women taking responsibility for our community.”
The “Maids Of The Maid” event will also feature appearances by Paula & The Mooncats with Marsha Low, Sarah & The Arrows, and Stevie & The Bluescasters with Carol Moog. “Maids Of The Maid” starts at 8 PM and a $15 donation at the door is suggested, with all proceeds benefitting Mothers In Charge.
The Mermaid is located at Mermaid Lane and Germantown Ave., Chestnut Hill. More information about the show can be found at http://www.themermaidinn.net/home.html.
