Philadelphia Women’s Theatre Festival (PWTF) is proud to present the 2018 Festival, Motherhood in Theatre. In partnership with the Parent Artist Advocacy League, we are presenting four staged readings written and directed by mothers and highlighting the joys and heartbreaks of motherhood. The festival also includes two professional development events - Mothers of Color in the Arts and Moms on the Move. “Being a parent is one of the hardest jobs for anyone and even harder for people in theatre,” said Co-Founder & Artistic Director, Polly Edelstein. “By dedicating our 2018 festival to motherhood in the arts, PWTF hopes to create a world where motherhood is accepted, celebrated, and supported in the arts.”


This year, there is no need for a babysitter! Parents are encouraged to bring their kids to attend a children’s show, THE KING WHO WANTED TO CLEAN THE MOON, in the childcare studio! If fact, family passes are available and children’s show performances will run simultaneously with the staged readings! In addition, children are welcome to be with their parents at the staged readings. Mothers are also welcome to breastfeed their infants. PWTF is fully committed to making theatre accessible to all families, no restrictions. We believe that parents and their children should be welcome in our community, and this is the first step in opening those doors. “Accessible and affordable childcare is critical,” said Co-Founder & Managing Director, Christine Petrini. “It’s theatre for the whole family. Artists and patrons alike can enjoy theatre while their children also see a show!” From August 2nd– 5th, PWTF invites you to celebrate that all moms can!
