Mount Tecumseh Trail is a 4.9 mile heavily trafficked out and back trail located near Waterville Valley, New Hampshire that features a river and is rated as moderate. But this time, in the winter!

The smallest of New Hampshire's 4,000 footers (standing at 4,003 feet tall) sits adjacent to Waterville Valley Ski area. A lovely hike to do during any season!

Follow the trail 1.2 miles to a view point then another 1 (steep) mile to the cross trail between the Tecumseh Trail and the Sosman trail. From there, the summit is 0.3 miles away. There are limited views, but it is still beautiful!

The main characteristics you'll need to join are the following:

1) Can do aerobic exercise non-stop for several hours if needed going up very high inclines

2) You must have attended one of the Winter Hiking Classes or have previous winter hiking experience.

Snowshoe rental will be added closer to the event day.

Gear
1) microspikes

2) hiking boots (if you have trail runners, please make your peace with God if your feet get wet and you loose your toes).

3) Non-cotton socks, core base layer, and pant base layer.

4) Waterproof/windproof core and pant shells

5) 2 liters of water to be kept inside your backpack to keep from freezing

6) Electrolytes - Gatorade

7) Sandwich and other snacks. Do not come unprepared with one measly health bar.

8) Multiple non-cotton layers to keep you safe and warm from the cold

9) Map of this hike: https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/new-hampshire/mount-tecumseh-trail

10) headlamp or flashlight (phone does not count)

Expectations
This is not a professionally guided hike, so do not treat anyone in the group as your personal guide. You must have the above supplies and map, and you will be screened at the carpool/trail head for these items. If you do not have them, you will be sent back. Your safety is our safety. You must exercise regularly; yoga does not count. Because this is an out and back, if you are slow, you will expected to have the grace to either turn back or hike slowly upwards while the rest of the group ascends. Otherwise we hike together, stop at trail junctions, and enjoy each other's company.
