In the compelling, 2014 Academy Award-nominated film 20 Feet from Stardom, award-winning director Morgan Neville shines a spotlight on the untold true story of the backup singers behind some of the greatest musical legends of the 21st century. Along with rare archival footage and a peerless soundtrack, 20 Feet from Stardom boasts intimate interviews with Bruce Springsteen, Stevie Wonder, Mick Jagger, and Sting, to name just a few. However, these world-famous figures take a backseat to the diverse array of backup singers whose lives and stories take center stage in the film.
After the film, cast member and Berklee voice faculty member Janice Pendarvis will lead a panel featuring the film’s star and special guest, Lisa Fischer, for a panel discussion that will explore the joy, the heartache, and the complexity in the lives of background singers as well as their relationships with other members of the music community.
Other featured panelists will include Berklee voice faculty members Janie Barnett, Gabrielle Goodman, Donna McElroy, and assistant VP/ recording engineer Carl Beatty.
Tickets: $8 in advance, $12 day of show. General admission.
