In September, Palaver Strings will open Season 3 in Somerville with a program inspired by the Earth and the natural world. From Mark O’Connor’s sweet and nostalgic Appalachia Waltz to John Luther Adam’s frigid and solemn The Wind in High Places, each piece will explore a different perspective of earth and our relationship to it.

Accompanying Adams’ string quartet will be a set of photographs of the greater Boston Area, captured by Somerville artist, Erin Gumm. Uncovering and observing the natural beauty that exists within the city’s sea of concrete and brick, and the influence we as humans have on the natural resources surrounding us, is woven through the program. We hope you can join us in an evening of reflection and discovery.

A Wonderful World Program:

Antonín Dvořák, Nocturne in B Major
Mark O’Connor, Appalachia Waltz
John Luther Adams, The Wind in High Places
Richard Strauss, Metamorphosen
