“Paint World’s End” exhibit to benefit World’s End and Weir River Farm in Hingham


The October exhibit at South Street Gallery, the area’s premier gallery featuring local, regional and national artists, will feature paintings from and about the World’s End Reservation and the Weir River Farm, both in Hingham, by many local and regional plein-air artists.


South Street Gallery is sponsoring this plein-air painting event, in partnership with The Trustees at World’s End, which will take place on Thursday September 29, Friday September 30 and Saturday October 1 to benefit World’s End and Weir River Farm in Hingham. All participating artists will be painting in the World’s End Reservation during the 3 days. Paintings produced as a result of this three-day effort will be offered for sale at South Street Gallery. Together with these paintings, paintings of the Weir River Farm will be on display as well.


Everyone is invited to the opening reception of this exhibit which will take place on Saturday, October 1 from 6 to 9 pm. This show will stay on display until October 20, 2016.


As a unique addition, The Trustees will let artists enter the Reservation “after hours” for “Nocturnal Paint-out” on Friday evening, September 30.


South Street Gallery will donate 30% of gross proceeds from the sales of all artwork to The Trustees of Reservations.


This “Paint World’s End” is the latest in a series of neighborhood programs put forth by South Street Gallery. In the past, they have featured “Paint the Center,” “Paint Crow Point,” “Paint the Square,” and “Paint the Neighborhoods.” These have been plein-air events, from the French phrase En plein air, meaning "in the open air," used to describe the act of painting outdoors, blending the unique combination of fresh color, accurate values, and real life based compositions.
