How do income disparities and racism affect youth and their education? How can we make a difference with youth in the Boston Public Schools (BPS)? Speakers who are actively engaged in understanding and addressing the challenges Boston’s young people face will help us to find answers to these questions at the second annual Anne Berry Bonnyman Symposium.


The full day of programming includes The Rev. Canon Dr. Kelly Brown Douglas, Canon Theologian of the Washington National Cathedral, who will preach at the 9 and 11:15 am services. At 10:15 am, four young leaders who once were students at Trinity’s Education for Excellence Program will share their experiences from BPS and beyond. The afternoon program, from 1-3:30 pm, will feature keynoter Dr. John Jackson, CEO, Schott Foundation for Public Education; and a panel moderated by Callie Crossley, host of Under the Radar on WGBH 89.7 FM. with Dr. Tommy Chang, Superintendent, Boston Public Schools; Michael Patrick MacDonald, activist and author of All Souls; and others.
