Love a good story? This season, Boston Lyric Opera pairs some of our favorite novels with each of the 2019/20 operas, from tragic love stories to epic journeys. No opera experience needed!
Join Boston Lyric Opera and Trident Booksellers & Café on Thursday, November 7 at 7:00 PM for our kickoff fall book club of the 19/20 Season. We’ll consider two novels – Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel and Fellow Travelers by Thomas Mallon.
Station Eleven: "Survival is insufficient." What does it mean to make art when the world around you has crumbled? Emily St. John's fascinating novel follows a troupe of actors as they perform Shakespeare across a post-apocalyptic America. Inspired by BLO's recent production of Pagliacci.
Fellow Travelers: A forbidden love blossoms during a pivotal moment in US history in Thomas Mallon's heart-wrenching novel. Just as Senator McCarthy ratchets up his hunt for “sexual subversives” in 1950s Washington, DC, Tim and Hawk form an enduring bond against all the odds. Inspired by BLO's upcoming production of Fellow Travelers, based on the novel.
Your ticket includes appetizers hosted by Boston Lyric Opera! Full Trident Café menu available as well.
