Can you sing in tune and play in sync? Can you accompany yourself playing the ukulele and still sing in tune?
Hum & Strum is the ONLY group class where you also get individual instruction through breakout rooms while the rest of the class gets training in rhythm, chord switching, and other bespoke exercises for the ukulele.
Tuition includes handouts (PDF) with links to zoom class video recordings.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTORS
Anne Ku is the author of a new 110-page book on the ukulele. She has taught music at the University of Hawaii Maui College. With degrees in music from the UK and the Netherlands, she founded the ukulele movement in Historic Lower Mills and has performed in the Boston Guitar Orchestra. Her easy piano arrangements are freely available and have been recorded by passionate music lovers everywhere. http://www.anneku.com
Bruce Wilson Boreham has been singing professionally for most of his life. For many years, Bruce was professor by day, rockstar by night. He taught for 25 years at the University of Venice, initially English as a Second Language, then Screenwriting. He has sung as the lead singer in bands and choirs performing gospel, progressive rock, swing, and modern opera. He has composed the original music and lyrics for several of these music groups.

Hum & Strum is a class with a lot of heart. Bruce made practical singing suggestions tailored to each student, while Anne gave specific suggestions of how to zhuzh up each of the songs with chord progressions, tablature, riffs and more complicated strum patterns. The class provided a safe, smart space to come to grips with the complexity of singing and playing simultaneously. Delightful practice sessions organized by participants helped with cementing those concepts. All in all, delightful ukulele good times to soothe the soul as we make our way through these peculiar times.
Hum & Strum was a unique experience for me – even as a long time ukulele player. It Hgave a me better understanding of singing techniques and strumming techniques and their combination. Bruce was our voice coach and he identified my personal issues in our private breakout session. His “one on one” coaching was extraordinary for improving and building singing confidence. At the end of the course, everyone showed improvement and helped to build a supportive and fun camaraderie.
