It’s a new day in Occupied Philadelphia! Join a museum educator on this new walking tour of our city as it was in the fall of 1777, when British redcoats occupied (or liberated?) it. You will visit a bustling marketplace, a military encampment, and the yard of Carpenters' Hall, and meet soldiers, civilians, and spies in this participatory, hour-long tour.
Museum educators will lead walking tours of the occupied neighborhood, guests can complete a spy challenge to collect information on the British Army, and vignettes of street theater will recreate dramatic moments from 1777. In partnership with City Tavern Restaurant and Carpenters’ Hall.
At City Tavern, Proprietor Walter Staib, twelve time Emmy award winning host of the acclaimed show A Taste of History, has recreated the culinary delights enjoyed by our founding fathers. City Tavern’s cuisine is made fresh daily from scratch with local ingredients and just as the founding fathers dined on elegant, sophisticated cuisine at City Tavern, so can you.
