We have heard enough. We have seen enough. We have had enough. Now is the time to embrace that we are enough. Nozama Dance Collective presents “Enough”, their third full-length modern dance performance centered around the concepts of female empowerment. The concert will include guest performances by The Expressive Mocement, Project 31, Colleen Roddy, Cayley Dorr, and Evolve Dynamicz. A portion of the ticket proceeds will benefit The Big Sisters Association, with whom Nozama Dance Collective is privileged to partner with.


Nozama Dance Collective (https://nozamadancecollective.wordpress.com/about/) is a modern dance company based in Boston, Massachusetts, directed by Gracie Novikoff and Natalie Schiera. The company is focused on portraying the empowering, bold reactions of women in this current political climate. Through raw movement and complex partnering, the company is breaking boundaries in the Boston dance community. When naming our company, we were looking for a synonym for ‘an empowered woman’. Unfortunately, many of the words we found had a negative connotation, particularly the word ‘Amazonian’. This struck us as both frustrating and enlightening, and thus we were presented with an opportunity to change that perspective. We wanted to “flip” these terms on their head – with that, Nozama was created.


Nozama Dance Collective has been privileged to represent Emerging Artists in the Outside the Box Boston festival 2015, and has performed in numerous festivals including the Southern Vermont Dance Festival, Jose Mateo Dance for World Community Festival, Kelley Donovan Third Life Series, NACHMO Boston, and RAW Artists Boston. Nozama Dance Collective is also currently partnering with the Big Sisters Association to teach workshops to young girls ages 9-13 in an effort to empower them to embrace their inner girl power.
