We launched Notch in 2010, but built our new Salem brewery in 2016. Here's what you'll find:
Tap Room (CURRENTLY CLOSED): Full pours for on-site consumption, quart cans to go, and 16oz Single Series cans to go (when available). 10 to 14 beers on tap at all times, highlighting session beer styles from all over. Communal tables, counter service, light snacks, no TVs in the main beer hall (Local sports on in the smaller Star Room) and Skee Ball. It's a place to socialize with friends or meet new ones.
Biergarten: (Sat & Sun 12 - 5PM weather dependent) Open year-round (snow, sun, whatever), our 2000 sq ft biergarten has a seating capacity of 200. Communal tables on the South River basin in the warm months, heated stand-ups in the cold months. Watch the tide come and go from our south facing beer garden. Catch a view of our harbor seals, birds of all types and striped bass when they are running (no fishing from the biergarten!). Kubb and Cornhole when it's not busy, or there is a global pandemic.
Brewery: We hope that our brewery will provide customers a way to see the unique brewing processes and equipment we use - a traditional decoction brew-house, open and closed fermentation, horizontal lagering tanks, German gravity cask dispensing, and a draft system imported from the Czech Republic – tools, process and equipment that will allow a wide variety of session beer to be produced.
Brewery Tours: On hiatus until 2021 sometime
Taproom Info & Policies:
– No reservations, first come first served
– 21+ on Friday & Saturday after 6PM.
– No Dogs during these difficult times
– Food must be ordered with the first beer order per MA Mandate
– Outside food is allowed, but no deliveries, and we have a full food menu.
