Boston, MA -- In two weeks, a new mural will be unveiled on the Rose Kennedy Greenway overlooking Dewey Square. The brainchild of Shinique Smith, the artist whose similar work is currently being exhibited by the Museum of Fine Arts, the mural is based off Smith's Seven Moons and will inject an air of vibrancy to the already bustling section of Boston. To help ring in Smith's achievement and showcase her work to the Boston public, the Greenway is throwing a bash fitting of its artistic innovation.


On Tuesday, September 23, the Greenway will transform into a party venue from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and feature a number of different activities to enjoy. Beneath the 70-by-76-foot mural will be live music courtesy of both Boston-based Debo Band and East Boston's cultural organization Zumix.


Artists for Humanity, a locally-formed organization that empowers youth to engage in the arts and also helps to land them employment opportunities, will host a number of interactive installations for everyone to embrace. BostInno reached out to Artists for Humanity to find out what they have in store, but they told us their programming is contingent on an imminent meeting with Smith in order to better reflect her work.


And make sure you don't come on an empty stomach. There will be plenty of food and drink, thanks to the Dewey Square farmer's market that will be rocking and rolling, as well as the army of food trucks that will open up their windows at 6:30 p.m. just in time for dinner.


Smith herself will also be in attendance to make the acquaintance of you patrons.
