New England Conservatory Opera presents La Calisto, Francesco Cavalli's early Baroque opera. This fully staged production with a chamber orchestra drawn from musicians from the NEC Philharmonia conducted by Robert Tweten brings a reimagined world of Greek myths to the present day. In this new staging by director Brenna Corner, the opera takes place in a high school and addresses consent, bullying, and consequences of those actions through a present-day lens.


Cavalli's La Calisto at NEC is presented as part of the Pratt Residency and Performance Series for Early Music, established through the generosity of Life Trustee Harold I. Pratt and his wife, Frances.
