Explore the fascinating and surreal worlds created through Marina Korenfeld’s intricate etchings on Saturday, May 18th, from 6 - 8 pm. Her symbolism draws from a variety of mythologies, religions, folklore, and worldviews, submerging the viewer in fantastical dreamscapes accompanied by creatures and figures alike.

Born in Odessa, Ukraine to a musician father and dramatist mother, Marina Korenfeld’s childhood included visiting artists, musicians, actors and poets. Channeling her creative upbringing, she attended Odessa’s Theater and Art College, majoring in puppetry and graduating in 1992. Ten days later, Marina’s family immigrated to the U.S. where she was accepted into the School of Visual Arts, earning a B.A. in Fine Arts. She finds self-introspection crucial to her art as by delving into the enigmas of the self can an individual truly engage with the world and bring about change in a profound, meaningful way.

Together with artist and husband Eli, she created “IDEA” an aesthetic center for children where she teaches painting, drawing, and art history, eventually branching to organize “IDEA” to include an art and theater camp and annual trips to Europe in a special cultural exchange enrichment program. Her accolades include a Merit Scholarship and two Red Dot awards at the Art Students League of New York, an American Graphic Arts Society exhibition at the Met, and has been featured in many more exhibitions throughout New York and Boston.

“The theme of self-introspection is crucial to my art, since I believe that only by delving into the enigmas of the self can an individual truly engage with the world and bring about change in a profound, meaningful way.” We're excited to share her artwork with Brookline and we hope to see you there!
