Mt. Katahdin - Hamlin loop

We shall be hiking the God of all New England hikes, the Katahdin-Hamlin loop. We will be driving up the Baxter State park on Saturday and camp at Katahdin park campground. Have a great dinner and in general moose around.

Early, Sunday morning we will drive down to the Roaring Brook trailhead to begin the hike. We will hike up the Helen Taylor trial onto our first summit - Pamola (an interesting read on wikipedia). From then on after having collectively gathered or courage we will tackle the 1.2 mile long Knife's edge to reach Baxter Peak - the highest point in Maine and our 2nd peak. After having appreciated the views and thanked Pamola for granting us safe passage we will head over to Hamlin to get a different perspective of Katahdin and more 360 degree views. From there we descend down via the Hamlin Ridge and Chimney Pond trail (with or without a detour to Chimney pond) back to the trail head. From there its back to our campsite for well deserved grubs and sleep.

Monday morning, we head back to our reality as and when we collectively decide and stop for brunch or not.

For Camping:

Tent

sleeping bag

food for 2 days

camping cookware (can be shared)

camping stove (can be shared)
