Boston Jewish Film 360 Summer Cinematheque Presents: Marianne & Leonard: Words of Love
In 1960, on the Greek island of Hydra, singer/songwriter/poet Leonard Cohen, then an unknown fiction writer, met Marianne, a single mother with a young son, and became part of a community of expat artists, writers, and musicians. It was a time that left a lasting imprint on both Marianne and Leonard, who became lovers and remained friends until their deaths. Marianne & Leonard: Words of Love tells this beautiful, enduring love story with never-before-seen footage shot by Broomfied and legendary documentarian D.A. Pennebaker, both of whom knew, and were influenced by, Marianne.
