Plants are awesome. They’re pretty. Colorful. Good for air-quality. But man are they hard to keep alive! Wouldn’t be great if they could just care for themselves?
In this workshop, you’ll learn how to create an enclosed ecosystem that will literally take care of itself!
You’ll select a unique glass vessel (provided by the instructor), and, with step-by-step instructions on how to build a healthy, sustainable ecosystem, you’ll create your own miniature world of tropical plants, mosses, and decorative elements. Then, just add water, place it somewhere where you can admire it or gift it to a loved one, and your terrarium will live on!
This workshop was previously offered at Brookline Adult Education and Newton Adult & Community Education where it sold-out, so register early!
Wear something comfy that you don’t mind getting dirty, invite a friend, and byob!

*Participants must pre-register on Eventbrite. All necessary materials provided by the instructor. Class fee includes materials fee of $20.

What You Should Bring:
*Any decorative elements or personal touches you hope to include in your terrarium. Shells, crystals, figurines, etc.

*A bag or box to tote your terrarium home in. They’re glass, so will need some cushioning.

FAQs
What if I’ve killed every plant I’ve ever owned? Does my terrarium stand a chance?
The idea behind these terraria is that they will require little to no maintenance. They’ll be enclosed (though not sealed) and so recycling water, and will require minimal human intervention. During the workshop, we’ll discuss the methods used during construction to foster your terrarium’s survival.

Can children participate?
Yes! Children 5+ are welcome. This class is for all levels of experience.

Is the venue T-accessible? Is there parking available?
The Presentation School Foundation Community Center is located in Oak Square, Brighton, and can be reached by the 57, 64, 501 and 503 buses. There is a free parking lot behind the Community Center for attendees. The workshop will be in the New Balance room, which is accessible from the parking lot, and down one level.
The workshop is scheduled for three hours. Will I need to stay the entire time?
Some students will complete their projects well before three hours have elapsed. The time allows you to create in a relaxed setting, create a more complex terrarium if you wish, and have time to clean up.

Is my registration/ticket transferrable?
If you've registered for one session and find you are unable to attend, you may register for the alternate session of the same class with 48-hour's notice, provided space is available. This class is offered twice, August 14th, and August 23rd. If you plan to have another student attend the workshop in your place, please e-mail [email protected] in advance.

What is the refund policy?
You will receive a full refund should the workshop be canceled. If you elect to not attend, your ticket may be used to attend an alternate workshop, but no monetary refunds can be provided. Please notify the instructor if you'd like to attend an alternate date.

Is the venue handicap-accessible?
Yes, there are ramps and an elevator available.
How can I contact the instructor with any questions?
