Les Bostonades kicks off its 11th season with a concert featuring chamber music of Jean-Marie Leclair (1697–1764), the founder of the French violin school, and his notorious rival Jean-Pierre Guignon (1702–1774), an Italian-born virtuoso who was the last to hold the title Roy des Violons but was forced to resign due to his unpopularity among his colleagues. The program also includes solo and trio sonatas of Jean-Baptiste Barrière (1707–1747), one of the finest cellists of his time and the first to write fully idiomatic music for the cello.
Héloïse Degrugillier, recorder & traverso
Sarah Darling, violin
