Larkin Poe is coming off their tour with Elvis Costello and they are heading to The Red Room @ Cafe 939!
Atlanta-based sisters Larkin Poe celebrate their familial bond and their own eccentricities with their debut full-length album, Kin, on Restoration Hardware’s RH Music label. The record was produced by Chris Seefried (Fitz and the Tantrums, Lana Del Rey) and Damien Lewis (Rihanna, Rita Ora).
The sisters grew up playing classical violin and piano and listening to their dad’s Fleetwood Mac; Pink Floyd; Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young; and The Band albums. Larkin Poe’s sound and voices came together for another reason: for the first time, they actually wrote together. After self-releasing five EPs and touring for three years without label support, they signed with RH Music. With years of domestic and international touring under their belts and a large and loyal fan base, the sisters want their fans to know that Kin is truly their coming of age project.
After earning a buzz as one of New York City’s up-and-coming songwriters, Benjamin Cartel put his solo career on hold in 2004, the year he co-founded the indie folk duo Kaiser Cartel. Years later, that band is still busy and Cartel’s solo career has earned a new set of wheels with an EP that bridges the gap between Wilco’s wry rock ‘n’ roll and John Lennon’s classic pop. Money and Love is Cartel’s first solo release. Like the musical influences that spawned it, the EP is a mix of old and new. Several songs, like the vintage pop/rocker No One, were written before Kaiser Cartel’s formation.
