Kala Farnham is a multi-instrumentalist singer-songwriter homegrown out of the Quiet Corner of Connecticut. Kala Farnham began her musical journey at the young age of three, when she learned the theme to Close Encounters of the Third Kind on a toy piano. By age seven, she was gracing the stage playing Mozart concertos and Chopin nocturnes. In high school she established herself as a working musician as her alma mater's theater accompanist; in college, she furthered her studies in music technology, composition, and jazz. Since then, music has continued to be the defining factor of Kala's life.

Kala's signature songwriting has been described as a reinvention of the traditional folk made popular by artists such as Joni Mitchell and Joan Baez; she is praised for her complex classical undertones and playful dose Broadway theatricality onstage, reminiscent of modern day performers Tori Amos and Regina Spektor. Her affinity for poetry and creative writing is evident through signature lyricism that springs to life with heartfelt and creative storytelling, cultural references, and rich metaphor. Described by RI's Motif Magazine as a "pint-sized, piano-playing powerhouse... with influences of pop, Broadway, and world music", she has been compared to such artists as Joni Mitchell, Regina Spektor, and Jewel.
