About JSN (Jason Dick)


JSN (Just Stay Nice) formed early in 2017. Members include Thad Merritt and Jesse Hayes of the reggae/ska/rocksteady band The Void Union and Jason Dick former singer-songwriter for the High Hopes Band.


Jason assembled and managed the High Hopes Band over the course of 10 years. He was one half of the songwriting team for HHB. High Hopes was a premiere modern roots reggae band in New England, and was presented the 2015 Best in State of Massachusetts award by the New England Music Awards. Through his work with HHB, Jason toured yearly on the East coast and in the U.S. Virgin Islands and provided tour support in the Northeast & New York, to a variety of well known reggae artists such as Ziggy Marley, Midnite, Easy Star All-Stars, New Kingston, Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad, Morgan Heritage, Freddie McGregor, Maxi Priest & The Simpkin Project. He's shared the stage with Steel Pulse, Third World, Inner Circle, Yellow Man, Mighty Mystic, Dub Apocalypse & Soul Rebel Project. In the Fall of 2014, HHB album release, "Forever Love," reached #35 in the Itunes top 100 all-time reggae albums charts. In October of 2014 Surf Roots Radio chose them as the featured artist for their web stream of over 100,000 listeners.


Jason's influence comes from many golden-era (70's) reggae musicians as well as the 60's-70's American folk rock music scene. Jamaican artists of the late 60s-early 70s who drew upon the Motown, country/Americana, and rock & blues movements of their time had a huge impact on developing what he wants to emulate. Jason aims to fuse that classic, orthodox reggae sound with today’s current styles. His style is an amalgam of genres: sweet hints of R&B, soul, and country music matched with spicy influences from second-generation Jamaican musicians.
