Gapi, is an amazing duo project developed to meld cultural styles of Korean and American music. DoYeon Kim (gayageum) comes from a rich background in traditional Korean folk music and Chase Morrin (Piano) is well versed in classical and jazz idioms. Together, they are creating extraordinarily unique and collaborative music with rich modal harmonic landscapes and complex rhythmic grids, challenging the traditions of both the gayageum and piano They have just released an album that is self titled.

Korean born Eunhye Jeong is a pianist, composer, arranger & more, whose works cross borders of cultures and genres. It draws influences from jazz, classical and Korean traditional music She graduated from Berklee College of Music with a degree in Film Scoring & Performance. For this event, Eunhye will collaborate with alto saxophonist/bass clarinetist Allison Burik who is a product of the Kansas City jazz scene where she performed in a handful of ensembles around the city and led her own quintet. Burik came to Boston to attend Berklee College of Music where she studied with many notable instructors including George Garzone. Eunhye & Allison met at the International Workshop in Jazz and Creative Music at Banff Centre for Arts & Creativity in Canada, which has provided one of the most important training grounds in the world for improvising jazz musicians and composers. Vijay Iyer is the current artistic director. https://eunhyejeong.com/ http://www.allisonburik.com/

Bob Toabe is an improvisational pianist whose sound is influenced by a broad range of contemporary jazz, classical, and international music. However, more than anything else it was his early personal meetings (at age 15) with McCoy Tyner and Pharaoh Sanders that moved and inspired the direction of his music. His original and fluid piano style comes with a sound that is rich, sweet, and hypnotic. "What I want most (in my music) is deep and free- flowing emotional content. I want my audience to move with me over the keyboard...letting the music flow through us like a soft sweet breeze, like an ocean wave...seeking expression of our deepest needs, our essential selves."
