Shogi (将棋) is Japanese chess.
Japanese chess is similar to western chess, but with one big difference: once you capture a piece from the table then it's yours and you can use it as your piece! This makes the game crazy! Too much thinking.
No prior knowledge needed! Easy to learn. Players of any level (including beginners & newbies) are welcome.
Since we use iconic animal characterized pieces, you don't have to remember Chinese characters. The pieces tell you how they can move. (We also have traditional pieces with the characters.)
We meet almost every Sunday in the food court area of City Place, which is near Boston Common. (There's food and coffee nearby if you want.)
