Legendary jazz musician James Carter to perform in the historic Palace galleries as part of an improvisational response to the Gardner collection.

James Carter, called “the apotheosis of the postmodern jazzman” by the Washington Post, will be performing on bass clarinet in the historic Palace from 6-9 pm as part of a special new pop-up gallery performance series. Moving from room to room, visitors will experience Carter’s musical response to the Gardner collection through improvisational performances inspired by his surroundings.
