Meet culinary icon Chef Jacques Pépin at an intimate cocktail reception while supporting NECAT, a local culinary job training organization.
Come early and enjoy a once in a lifetime opportunity to sit in on a cooking demo with Chef Jacques in NECAT's beautiful, state-of-the-art culinary amphitheater. Then stay for delicious hors d'oeuvres and drinks, receive a free signed copy of Chez Jacques, one of the chef's favorite books, and meet this culinary legend.
Jacques is a world-renowned French chef, television personality and author who, together with Julia Child and James Beard, redefined the way Americans view food and dining. It is because of these chefs that we enjoy a vibrant restaurant culture today.
After a long and wildly successful career, Chef Jacques has launched the Jacques Pépin Foundation to help support organizations like NECAT, which help disadvantaged individuals enter his beloved industry.
Event Schedule
* Cooking Class and Demo: 4:00 to 5:30 pm
Must arrive by 3:30 for the class - doors close at 3:55, no exceptions. Filming will be taking place.
* Cocktail Reception: 5:30 to 7:00 pm
Class Description
Chef Pépin will demonstrate a variety of basic techniques which are the foundation of professional cooking. From sharpening a knife to the multiple processes of cutting vegetables and fruits, he will show and explain the proper preparation of making an omelet, a mayonnaise, the boning of a chicken and a salmon, and more. His demonstration will illustrate the principles of economy, speed and efficiency essential to professional cooking. Novices and accomplished cooks shall benefit from the knowledge that Chef Pépin has acquired and developed over the course of his career.
