Waterfront non-profit, Boston Harbor Now, in partnership with the Office of Mayor Martin J. Walsh and the City of Boston, will host the 5th annual “Illuminate the Harbor” fireworks show over Boston Harbor, the evening of Thursday August 31, 2017. We invite city residents, newcomers and returning students to join us in celebrating another successful summer of programming on the Boston Harbor Islands National & State Park and the waterfront.


Bring old friends and meet new neighbors as we witness a “Battle of the Barges” fireworks show over Boston Harbor where two barges anchored between the Seaport District and the North End will illuminate the Boston skyline beginning at 8:15pm for 20 minutes. You can also listen to the synchronized fireworks soundtrack broadcasting live on MAGIC 106.7FM.


For the best views of the pyrotechnic show, we suggest visiting any of these three locations along Boston’s HarborWalk:

◆ Fan Pier, Seaport District


Boston Harbor Now aims to activate Boston Harbor and its waterfront neighborhoods through inclusive public programming and events. The annual fireworks show is one of hundreds of free and family-friendly activities we host throughout the summer, designed to make the harbor more inviting and accessible to all. The organization hopes that through these fun events, visitors will want to return more often and stay longer along the Harbor, driving traffic and attention to local area businesses and cultural institutions.
