The Watershed opens for the season on May 25 with Guadalupe Maravilla: Mariposa Relámpago.

Tickets are now available for visits through June 30

A seasonal space, the Watershed is open May 25 through September 4, from 11 AM to 5 PM Tuesday through Sunday with Water Shuttle service. On Thursday it is also open for walk-ins until 8 PM (Water Shuttle service runs until 5 PM). The Watershed is closed Mondays.

Special events for 2023 include Memorial Day and Labor Day, when admission will be free at the ICA in the Seaport as well, plus free water shuttles on June 19 for Juneteenth and Watershed Block Parties on June 17 and August 19. Check back for more events and details.

A seasonal space, the ICA Watershed is open with a new presentation every summer. This summer, we present Guadalupe Maravilla: Mariposa Relámpago, a selection of recent sculptures and paintings centered on a work the artist has transformed from a school bus into into a vibrational healing instrument.

Drawing on his personal story of migration, illness, and recovery, Maravilla creates works grounded in activism and healing. In conjunction with the exhibition, the artist will lead free Sound Baths on June 10 and August 13. The ICA is also working closely with longtime community partner East Boston Neighborhood Health Center (EBNHC) and members of the East Boston Community Healing Center Project on several public programs during the exhibition’s run.

Entry to the Watershed is free. ICA Water Shuttle service between the ICA and the ICA Watershed is free with ICA general admission but requires a timed ticket (free for members!); advance reservations are strongly recommended. (Select “Water Shuttle + General Admission ticket” when you check out to reserve your spot on the boat.)

ICA Water Shuttle service between the ICA and the ICA Watershed is complimentary with the purchase of an ICA admission ticket, and for ICA members. See details above.

Water Shuttle service is provided through Red Top Boats. A step on and three steps down are required to board; wheelchairs and strollers may be brought on board if they are collapsible and light enough for crew to handle. The Water Shuttle docks are reached by ramps with rungs and can be steep, depending on the tide. The ramps are not wheelchair accessible.
