Hike Mt. Lafayette and Franconia Ridge Loop

We are currently looking for a driver, so do not sign up as a non-carpooler if you are coming from Boston and can drive. An RSVP on Meetup is not a real RSVP - you will not be allowed to join without signing up through Ridj-it.

We'll be hiking Franconia Ridge, which contains three peaks: Little Haystack, Lincoln, and Lafayette which are all 4,000 footers. This hike has one of the best views in New England as it follows a ridge-line once you reach the summit of Little Haystack. We'll be hiking up via the Falling Waters trail to Little Haystack, followed by the Franconia Ridge trail to Mount Lincoln and Lafayette. We descend via the Old Bridle Path. The total hike will be 8.4 miles in a loop.

Gear - A physical gear check will take place at carpool:
Waterproof, winter-hiking boots
Microspikes
Gaiters
Waterproof pants, such as rain pants.
Non-cotton base layer (preferable wool or synthetic).
Non-cotton, breathable mid-layer
Waterproof hard/soft shell jacket
Hat
Gloves
Headlamp
2-3 liters of water that won't freeze. (Insulated water bottle or other method)
Snacks and lunch. You will be burning a lot of energy!

Expectations

You must be in good shape which means you exercise regularly in running, biking, or other applicable cardio area. Recent hiking the Whites at 3,000+ feet more than qualifies you. You must have the supplies above or you will be turned away before leaving the carpool spot. You are responsible for having a map of this hike; this is not a guided excursion. You are joining like-minded enthusiasts and are responsible for your own safety.
