Hike Mt. Kearsarge - Beginner Winter Hike

Hike Mt. Kearsarge, one of the closest and most approachable mountains on the 52 With A View (51 WAV) list!

Distance: 2.4 miles

Elevation gain: 1,088 ft

Descent: 1,068 ft

Expectations

This is a beginner winter hike, but you will need the gear listed below, no exceptions. You should expect to take your sweet, beautiful time on this hike, as it's a whopping 2.4 miles. Anybody who wants to speed through it should probably post a different hike. This jaunt should be accompanied by good humor and maybe a drink. After all, it's Christmas Eve!

Gear:

1) insulated hiking boots (no trail runners)

2) Non-cotton base layers for core and legs

3) Non-cotton socks

4) Waterproof shell for core and pants

5) Waterproof gloves (not small cotton gloves)

6) 2 - 3 liters of water to be kept inside of your backpack and somehow insulated

7) Food, including sandwich, snacks, etc

8) Map of the hike above

9) Gaiters

10) Extra non-cotton layers

11) Microspikes

14) So far no snowshoes are needed - I will update as required
