A concert of Turkish Classical Music on traditional Turkish instruments
In 19th century Istanbul,Ottoman-Armenian musician Hampartsoum developed a new music notation system, with which numerous works were documented and survived to this day.
Many have been transcribed, and many are waiting to be unveiled. In this concert, works from these manuscripts will be performed upon their recent study and transcription.
In this evening of Turkish-Ottoman music, works by Reftar Kalfa, Dilhayat Kalfa, Dimitri Cantemir, Hampartsoum, Sultan Selim III, Dede Efendi and more will be presented.
