HarborFit: Island Yoga

Start your day on Spectacle Island with a yoga class overlooking spectacular views of Boston Harbor!

Pack a picnic and enjoy the trails after your class. Relax on the beach or fly a kite on the island's North Drumlin, the highest point in all of Boston Harbor! It's a perfect way to spend your Saturday. 

Please register here in Eventbrite to ensure your spot in the class, as walk ups are available on a first come, first served basis. *NOTE* you must purchase ferry tickets separately.

Participants should bring the following:

• Water bottle
• Yoga mat or towel
• Sunscreen

Ferry tickets and Directions: Roundtrip ferry ticket to Spectacle Island is *not* included in this reservation. Please purchase your ferry ticket here and arrive at Long Wharf North at 10am to board and depart promptly at 10:30am.

About your instructors

• Selena Natale: Selena fell in love with dancing at an early age and went on to study at Boston Ballet where she enjoyed the music, the movement, and atmosphere of a studio. As life progressed she lost focus on dancing but the desire lingered in her mind. Then when she was faced at a crossroads a sudden spark ignited her passion to return. But this time looking for something free of judgement. Memories of fitness classes at her mothers old gym resurfaced where she saw yoga classes being taught. Next thing she knew she was practicing at her local yoga studio almost every day. She realized that not only was she testing her strength and flexibility, but her mind body connection as well. She felt balanced and whole as her practice grew. She then enrolled in her 200 RYT at South Boston Yoga and discovered a whole new meaning to yoga. She learned teaching would give her the opportunity to be creative and share her story in hopes to help others. Soon after, Selena started designing various classes, events and fundraisers that brought all types of communities together. Her mission is to reach the most unlikely people and repair any pain they feel in their body or mind with the practice of yoga. • Annie Cheevers: Annie is a self-described energetic & encouraging yoga teacher who seeks to lead people towards a stronger connection to their mind, body, and spirit. She teaches all-level classes that are accessible to beginners while also challenging to intermediate students. Her instruction style maintains a focus on breathe work while paying individual attention to each student, customizing programs to a student’s experience level and energy. Annie received her 200 RYT Yoga Teacher Training through South Boston Yoga in April of 2019

About the series: Island Yoga is part of Boston Harbor Now's HarborFit program, providing free fitness classes around Boston's waterfront, including yoga, cardio movement, dance, and more!

This program is presented as part of the commemoration of the Boston Harbor Islands’ 25th anniversary as a National Park and 50th anniversary as a State Park.
