From the curly locks of Alexander the Great to the neck-beard of the emperor Nero, this Museum of Fine Arts gallery talk by guest lecturer Christopher Gilbert will examine the history of hairstyles in the ancient world using busts, coins and other objects in the museum's collections. Close attention to these evolving fashions sheds light on important political and social changes in the ancient world.

Free with museum admission -- no ticket required.

Pictured: a prime example of early 21st-century "hipster scruff" -- wait, nevermind that's just the guy who gives the talk.
