Hacking Arts 2018 will mark the sixth annual conference and festival will be held at the MIT Media Lab, fostering community and celebrating innovation in the creative industries: Design, Fashion, Film/Video, Gaming, Music, Performing Arts, Virtual/Augmented Reality, and Visual Arts.
In the spirit of this year’s theme of co-creation, all Hacking Arts attendees will have the opportunity to ‘hack’ together. We’ve shaken up our schedule and created more opportunities for the cross-pollination of ideas and skills than ever before.
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 13TH
8:00 AM - Check-in and breakfast to kick the day off right.
9:00 AM - We start the day with featured remarks, the reveal of the hackathon challenges, and an open pitch session to draw all participants into the creative process like never before.
11:00 AM - Live performances begin and our Creative Expo Hall opens its doors.
12:00 PM - Lunch
1:00 PM - Hackers officially get to work as our panel discussions and speaker series start stirring up a conversation. Performances and the Creative Expo continue through the afternoon.
5:00 PM - Mixer
5:30 PM - As hackers continue to build new futures into the night, our participants will be connected with memorable performances both on and off the MIT campus.
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 14TH
8:00 AM - Breakfast
9:00 AM - Panels and speakers set the tone for the morning session and our Expo hall is open for one final round. Experience live demos of arts & tech products created by MIT entrepreneurs at the Ignite Hour.
12:00 PM - Lunch
1:00 PM - Performances, panel discussions, and the Expo Hall round-up as we invite you to become the expert in our first-ever Unconference session.
4:00 PM - Mixer
4:30 PM - The top ten hacks present their work to the judges in hopes of taking home the top prize of the evening.
6:00 PM - A team of Media Lab researchers and featured artists present the results of the Signature Hack and the hackathon awards are given out.
7:00 PM - We close out the festival and send you out into the world inspired!
