HACE will host a free block party to celebrate the Gurney Street Trail and installation of artwork by Marta Sanchez. The event is the culmination of the organization’s partnership with Conrail and is tangible result of their ongoing commitment to serving the neighborhood. The Gurney Street Trail is repurposed land adjacent to Conrail tracks and addresses quality of life concerns including basic infrastructure improvements, landscaping and the installation of an asphalt pedestrian and bike path. Marta Sanchez’s metal art installation is inspired by quotes from poems written by poet David Acosta with local residents as signs of community healing and change.


Following a short program at 11:00 AM, the block party will kick off with family-friendly activities including a bounce-house, popcorn and hot dogs along with a DJ to keep the celebration going until 2:00 PM.
