Executive Chef Colton Coburn-Wood and the team at Cosmica are excited to welcome world-renowned chef & taco super star Wes Avila to our first Guest Chef Series on October 21, 2021. In support of The Latino Legacy Fund, a philanthropic fund focused on the advancement and well being of Latinos at the Boston Foundation, the chefs will collaborate on a six-course meal for one night only, with tickets available for $85 per person and all the profits going to the Latino Equity Fund. Guests are also welcome to support the Fund with additional financial contributions at https://www.tbf.org/LatinoEquityFund. The six-course menu designed collaboratively by Chefs Avila and Coburn-Wood will showcase each chefs unique cooking styles and approach to Mexican food.
Wes Avila, founder of Guerrilla Tacos in Los Angeles, earned a Bib Gourmand by the Michelin Guide. His innovative and exciting dishes have gained him an immense international following. In 2017, Chef Wes was named a James Beard Semi-Finalist in the category ‘Best Chef, West’. In that same year, Wes published his first book, Guerrilla Tacos: Recipes from the streets of LA. Since opening his restaurant in 2018, his commitment to using the best ingredients available has not wavered. In 2020, Chef Wes was voted by readers of Los Angeles Magazine as best local chef in Los Angeles. In June 2020, Chef Wes opened Piopiko Tacos as a culinary partner with Ace Hotel Kyoto.
The Latino Equity Fund is a unique partnership between local Latino leaders and The Boston Foundation that envisions an equitable future for all Bostonians. Formerly the Latino Legacy Fund, the Latino Equity Fund (LEF) is the first Latino-focused fund in the Greater Boston area. LEF uses its influence and platform to amplify diverse voices and perspectives within the Latino community and beyond, with a focus on achieving greater and more equitable access to economic prosperity and well-being. LEF is raising an additional $10 million over the next three years for initiatives to expand economic prosperity and address the well-being/health disparities that have been exacerbated by the COVID-19
