The long-awaited Somerville Community Path Extension finally opened to bike and pedestrian traffic on Saturday, June 10.


The 1.9-mile stretch running parallel with the Medford/Tufts MBTA branch provides a haven for pedestrians and bikers. This exciting addition offers not only a seamless commuting experience but also direct access to 4 newly unveiled Green Line stations.


The project is the final component of the Green Line Extension project to open to the public. The MBTA announced the opening date in a surprise Friday afternoon press release, after months of delays.
