Join us to hear from Kevin Lam, the Organizing Director at Asian American Resource Workshop (AARW). Kevin will be talking about the current landscape/conditions within the Southeast Asian community regarding deportation issues, specifically focusing on AARW's organizing efforts to mobilize against Southeast Asian detention and deportation. AARW is based in Dorchester, in Fields Corner, where there is a big Vietnamese population/community, and Kevin will be sharing what AARW been doing in response to the ICE raids that have been happening in the Vietnamese community over the past year.
The mission of the Asian American Resource Workshop is to work for the empowerment of the Asian Pacific American community to achieve its full participation in U.S. society. Founded in 1979, AARW is a member-based organization that uses arts, education, and activism to build the skills and political analysis of our pan-Asian membership. Our resources and activities are used to respond to current Asian Pacific American issues and to promote Asian Pacific American identity.
