KABINETT is pleased to present “Unreal Estate,” an exhibition featuring recent paintings by artists Doug Henders and Jeff Quinn. The show will be on view from April 6 through June 30.

Jeff Quinn “paints worlds that seem a cross between a Japanese landscape and some undiscovered planet” (NY Daily News) and has appeared in numerous solo shows and group shows. His many private and commercial commissions include collaborations with a broad array of artists and designers, including David Weeks, David Rockwell and Vladmir Kagan, as well as creations of numerous painted installations for the American artist Robert Gober. He has exhibited several times with Ralph Pucci, including a painted installation of over 3,000 square feet during New York City Design Week in 2012 and most recently, three commanding murals and 10 large-scale works executed for the Miami Art Basel opening of Pucci’s Wynwood showroom. Quinn currently teaches drawing and painting at the Parsons School of Design in New York City.


Doug Henders’ background as a US Army Cartographer is the source of his camouflage painting style that explores the ground between abstraction, representation and information layered topographies. By using the techniques of military observation in painting, Henders work plays on the connection between modernism and information gathering that officially “does not exist in the work itself.” Over the past 20 years his work has been exhibited internationally in galleries, museums, biennials, art fairs and private collections and as the cover art for the Prince album “Around the World in a Day.” The recently unveiled video for the first single in 14 years by former Talking Heads member David Byrne ("Everybody's Coming to My House") features original artwork by Henders.
